Psychotherapy in your country: a Questionnaire

Internationally, questions concerning the organization and structure of psychotherapy as well as the profession of psychotherapist are gaining increasing importance. In order to secure and guarantee the quality of psychotherapy, information and an exchange of experience is of utmost importance. Only an empirically secured knowledge of the situation of psychotherapy and of the situation of the profession "psychotherapist" can the interests of psychotherapy be represented internationally.

At the Department of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Medicine of the University of Essen, a worldwide documentation concerning psychotherapy has been prepared. The study is supported by the International Federation for Psychotherapy (IFP).

The goal of this study is to compile a generally accessible data bank with information on the legislative basis of practicing psychotherapy, the professional situation of psychotherapists, training in psychotherapy, financing and securing the quality of psychotherapeutic care, and the organizations.
